Have you always wondered which breeds are in your horse? Now you can find out! Our brand new DNA test for breed identification shows you which breeds and breed groups characterize your horse's genetic makeup - and which breed it is genetically most similar to.

Using the latest laboratory technology, we compare your animal's DNA with an extensive database of more than 90 different horse breeds. The result?

A detailed profile of:

  • which breeds and breed groups are contained in the genetic material
  • which four specific breeds, from 90 horse breeds, have the highest genetic match
  • which thoroughbred proportion is present

The breed analysis consists of two parts:
1. Breeds and Breedgroups in the genome
2. genetic similarities to individual breeds and breed groups

Your advantages at a glance:

✓ Identifies over 90 horse breeds

✓ Provides the percentage of whole blood

✓ Simple DNA test via hair root sample

✓ Scientifically sound, easy-to-understand findings

Who is the test interesting for?

  • Ideal for mixed-breed horses or horses with unknown ancestry
  • Classification of the horse's conformation and behavior
  • Provides information about the percentage of thoroughbred blood in your horse

Note: In horses, unlike dogs, breeding is often not based on clearly separated breeds. Only a few so-called distinct breeds such as the English Thoroughbred, the Friesian or the Arabian Thoroughbred are genetically clearly definable - their studbooks are closed for generations.

Most other horse breeds, on the other hand, use open or partially open studbooks. They allow targeted crossbreeding to shape characteristics such as conformation, performance or temperament. At genome level, these overlaps mean that the paper breed does not always have to come first in the results.
