It is always best to send the hair samples immediately so that the chance of contamination or mixing with other samples is reduced. 

However, hair keeps for a long period of time when dry and does not need to be refrigerated. Accordingly, you can also send us hair samples that you have already taken a few days ago. If the hair was damp, it should be allowed to air dry in a protected manner to prevent contamination . Please make absolutely sure that the hair does not come into contact with any other sample!

Old hair (several months old or from deceased animals if it has roots) can also be used. Let us know in advance when you are sending old hair so that we can include additional steps. Success is not guaranteed here.
